of the NABE and AUBER 2003 Washington Economic Policy
Conference
For those AUBER members who were
unable to attend the 2003 NABE and AUBER Economic Policy
Conference held in Washington, DC, at the end of March,
the following paragraphs briefly summarize sessions
sponsored by AUBER and presentations made by R. Glenn
Hubbard, former chair of the Council of Economic Advisers,
and Ben S. Bernanke, member of the Board of Governors

Grant Received
The Center for Real Estate and
Economic Development in the College of Business and
Public Administration at Old Dominion University received
a grant from the Commonwealth Department of Professional
and Occupational Regulation to study the nature and
scope of common interest communities (homeowner associations)
in Virginia. The one-year award is for $104,697.

Mark your calendars! It's not too
early to start thinking about AUBER's 57th annual fall
conference, which will be held in New Orleans. Janet
Speyrer and the University of New Orleans will host
the event scheduled for Sunday, October 12 through Tuesday,

L. William Seidman Research Institute
Arizona State University
The L. William Seidman Research
Institute in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona
State University is the current incarnation of the original
Bureau of Business Services, which was established at
then Arizona State College in 1951. The Bureau (with
a name change to the Bureau of Business and Economic
Research) operated as the single research/public service
unit of the ASU College of Business until the 1980s,
when the college adopted a more decentralized, entrepreneurial
model, and several additional centers with specific

In the spring of 2004, BEA plans
to release the results of comprehensive revisions of
state personal income and of local area personal income.
These revisions will incorporate the results of the
upcoming comprehensive revision of the national income
and product accounts (NIPAs), which is scheduled for

USF Economic Development Course. The course will be
