AUBER Awards Recognize Research Peers at 77th Annual Conference

The Association for University Business and Economic Research recognized recipients of several awards of excellence at the 77th annual AUBER Fall Conference in Boise, Idaho.
“The 77th Annual AUBER Fall Conference in Boise was a resounding success, bringing together leading economic researchers and fostering invaluable collaboration,” said Jennifer Green, director of the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Jacksonville State University and AUBER’s incoming president. “The diverse range of awards presented highlights the exceptional work being done across our member institutions, further solidifying AUBER’s position as a cornerstone of university-based economic research.”
The Regional Economic Research Institute at Florida Gulf Coast University earned the 2024 Award of Excellence in Electronic Publications for their submission, Industry Diversification Report. Research Economist John Shannon accepted the award.
The Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee Knoxville earned the 2024 Award of Excellence in Websites for their submission, Population Estimates – Tennessee State Data Center (https://tnsdc.utk.edu/estimates-and-projections/population-estimates/). Center Director Donald Bruce accepted the award.
The Paul Polzin Prize for Best Paper was awarded to Jenny H. Liu, assistant director of the Northwest Economic Research Center at Portland State University, for Portland State University Economic and Social Impact Study 2024.
John Deskins, director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research and assistant dean for outreach and engagement for the Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University, accepted the AUBER Fellow Award, which is given to individuals who have provided significant leadership and substantial service to the organization.
Director Vanessa Fry and the Idaho Policy Institute at Boise State University were recognized with an AUBER Award of Appreciation for hosting the conference. Additional recognition was given to Karlee May of KM Events for her assistance in planning the four-day event, which included a visit to the Boise State University Varsity Esports Arena, the Allen Noble Hall of Fame, and the cultural Basque Block in downtown Boise.
Brian Lewandowski, executive director, Business Research Division, Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder, was recognized for his leadership as AUBER’s president 2023-2024. He passed the gavel to Jennifer Green, director, Center for Economic Development and Business Research, Jacksonville State University, who will serve as AUBER president 2024-2025.
